The performance from year to year

Objective

During the proceedings at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, we have represented our client in a dispute with his former partner, who demanded the dissolution of a successfully operating joint venture, and the return of invested assets – shares, worth hundreds of millions of dollars, of a major Russian and international natural resources monopolist. The trial was of particular importance for our client, since in case of a loss he would have lost a stable and successfully operating business. In addition, the asset had significant value in the world natural resources market. Our team had to deal with both legal and management tasks. In addition to addressing the multiple matters governed by Russian law, and handled by our lawyers, we had to organize the interaction between the Swedish attorneys, Russian and foreign auditors, foreign law experts, and to receive numerous testimonies. 

Resolution

As a result of our work, including the coordination with foreign experts, attorneys and auditors, we were able to form such a strong position in the course of arbitration, that our clients adversary chose to complete the proceedings at the negotiating table. The successful outcome of the project was made possible not only because of the level of professional qualification of project team members, but also thanks to their Western education, experience in similar projects, understanding of intricacies of cross-cultural communication, and management skills. 

Result

Our client was able to reach the settlement on terms that met his business interests and was able to avoid a major claim worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
